The Integral Leader
So many leaders today are realising that our old ways of thinking and leading are not capable of dealing with the unprecedented challenges in today’s increasingly complex environment. Most of the ways we are taught to think, reason and understand, simply don’t equip us well enough to make the required decisions that confront us daily. The Integral Leader is dedicated to preparing us as leaders for the demands of our contemporary times; helping us to navigate the delicate balance between short –term profitability, our personal values and the long-term common good.
Leadership success starts with you as an individual where you have the maximum influence to change. Research demonstrates that individuals with a high degree of self-awareness are more likely to successfully lead and transform their organisations over time. The Integral Leader is designed to create lasting change working at a deep level to help you get the results you want personally and for your organisation.
Inner transformation is easy to talk about, difficult to do and all too readily avoided. This program provides the tools and processes to achieve your personal transformational goals. After all developing leaders for the future has as much to do with consciousness as competence.
Who is this program for?
Are you preparing to assume further responsibility? Looking for greater balance in your life to maintain your success? Do you need to create a leadership journey that will sustain you and help others to engage?
Leadership comes from many levels of an organisation. Its commonality is taking responsibility for self and delivering on the organisations mission and purpose. To do this you must operate up and down the organisation hierarchy, as well as across functions and silos. To achieve results, you must effectively engage people and manage processes regardless of the organisation structure. If this is your experience, then this program is relevant to you.
This program is ideal for you if you need to:
-
Gain tools for immediate application to progress a work challenge
-
Collaborate across your organisation
-
Manage increasing complexity
-
Influence others internally and externally
-
Take a coaching approach with peers and team members
-
Initiate change to achieve your organisation’s mission
-
Sustain your effective and authentic leadership journey
Program Overview
The Integral Leader program is delivered over 8 sessions from July to November. This purposefully allows for personal reflection and time to focus on a work challenge. This approach effectively integrates your learning from each respective module so you finish the program with transformed leadership skills.
The first 6 sessions deliver the following modules:
1. Authentic Leadership
(2 days, 18-19 July)
The Integral Leader reveals your ‘inner operating’ system as a leader and how it impacts your performance. By gaining insight into this, with small shifts, you can significantly alter the way you lead and impact the results you reap. This will be supplemented with an understanding of yours (and others) personality preferences and how these impact your leadership.
This module looks at values-based leadership, your personal leadership purpose and vision and how to lead mindfully. It then integrates these learning experiences through Emotional Intelligence in action. An intensive two days capped with reflective practice.
2. Leadership Frameworks & Tools
(2 days, 22-23 Aug)
This program is grounded in Integral theory research and practice. You will learn to diagnose issues using Integral tools, understand the levels of leadership consciousness, where you are placed and how to transition your personal level and understand and interact with others at varied levels.
This will be explored in the context of the Adaptive Leadership framework and put into practice through the identification of a work place challenge investigated using the Harvard University Business case study tool.
3. Coaching Leader
(1 day, 3 Sept)
Leaders who adopt an Appreciative Inquiry Coaching approach search for the best in the individuals and teams they lead. They create the most effective, constructive and ‘most alive’ conditions for those they lead to reach their fullest potential. Learn the underlying 8 principles and 5 step framework to be ‘fully affirmative’ within the coaching conversation and discover the untapped strengths just beyond your coachee’s current awareness.
4. Leading Teams
(2 days, 19-20 Sept)
This module continues the Appreciative Inquiry approach and reinforces your coaching capability to engage, create and then tap into your high performance team. It also looks at powerful communication and examines a real life case study taken from the finance world which illustrates leading a team to high performance.
5. Leading Change
(2 days, 24-25 Oct)
A systems perspective will provide the backdrop to learning about the links between strategy execution and employee alignment required to lead successful change. Learn carefully selected tools that enable organisation-wide authentic dialogue in order to intervene and create change in an immediate positive, collaborative and sustained manner.
This module also investigates at an introductory level, strategic foresight tools to help you with your strategic and outcome-focused leadership initiatives.
6. Sustainable Leadership
(1 day, 7 Nov)
Creating sustainable leadership is about developing your personal leadership plan to yield greater performance, better relationships, improved resiliency and a capacity to stay true to results that matter to you and your career plan.
This module looks at the Leadership Maturity Framework which offers a profound understanding of how and why people, leaders and organisations behave as they do. This will offer insightful maps for your individual development and organisational change. This will feed into your career and life plan and the module will conclude by examining how you can tap into or create leadership learning communities.
Work Challenge
Rehearsal - 22 Nov
Finale - 29 Nov
A Work Challenge will be selected and focused upon to integrate learnings, and progress an initiative from the second module. This will allow greater experiential learning and an immediate return on investment for your workplace.
